Located just 29 minutes away from our luxury cabins, Whitewater Falls is one of the most stunning and awe-inspiring waterfalls in the region. Known for its impressive height and dramatic beauty, it’s a must-visit destination for all kinds of travelers seeking to experience the grandeur of the region.
Whitewater is a 400+ foot gorgeous, waterfall, and well worth the half-mile round trip hike to view it. The hike follows a short, paved stretch through the Foothills Trail along a wildflower-filled forest. While you're hiking, you'll catch some stunning views of Lake Jocassee in the rolling surrounding mountains.

You may have heard about the famous “Sliding Rock” in Brevard, but did you know that’s not the only natural waterslide to explore near Meraki Escape? Cashier’s Sliding Rock is another natural swimming hole created by the Chattooga River gliding over a 10-foot high rock face.
Play in the pool at the bottom of the sliding rock or take the short trail to the top for a short, but exciting slide into the pool below. It's a popular place so be prepared to see some other folks there in the summer months.

This 25-ft. waterfall cascades into a tranquil pool with a small beach area making it a popular swimming spot.
The most popular of the many waterfalls in Panthertown
Valley, this cascade freefalls into a refreshing pool that is safe for swimming and wading. The most direct route is 2.5 miles roundtrip.

Fed by Greenland Creek and adorned by Rhododendron, hemlock, and mountain laurel, this fall features multiple sections of sliding cascades, totaling 45 feet in height. The waterfall’s namesake, Carlton McNeill died in 2007 after years of caring for the hiking trails and scenery of Panthertown Valley.
Many hikers who frequent the area speak very highly of Carlton McNeil, his passion for the environment, and his eagerness to lend a helping hand. There's no better way to honor and pay respect to McNeill than naming a beautiful waterfall after him.

Also in Panthertown Valley is this 45-foot high, two-part cascade that tumbles from Greenland Creek into a wide pool of moss- and lichen-blanketed boulders and often clear water. Check out Greenland Creek Falls if you're in the area and want to hike a quick and simple out-and-back trail.
The two towns are approximately 1.5 - 2 hours apart by car, depending on the route you take. While not next-door neighbors, Cashiers and Asheville are both in the Appalachian region, making a trip to both areas an ideal way to explore the natural beauty of North Carolina.
The name "Cashiers" is believed to have originated from the early settlers of the area. The most widely accepted theory is that it comes from the Zachary family's role as accountants for local gold miners.
Cashiers is an unincorporated village on the southern end of Jackson County. This quaint mountain community is home to some of the highest and most scenic mountain peaks in the county.
